The type material of Buprestidae in the Muséum national d' Histoire
Naturelle, Paris was selected from the whole collection and now it is deposited
only in the following four collections:
Générale collection - here
Oberthür collection - here & thanks to Edo Jendek, there are now photos of the entire Oberthür collection - here
Pic collection- here
Théry collection- here
Each of these collections is treated in a separate file under species ordered
alphabetically; each file contains columns A - K with the following information:
A - serial number
B - species name
C - genus in the collection the species can be found in
D - author of the species name
E - the precise citation of the locality label (labels); (P) = printed
label, (H) = handwritten label, (P/H) = combined locality label; if the locality
is written on two labels,
the text is
divided by double slash //; (H-round) = locality written on the historical,
rounded label
F - status of the type specimen:
Type
- neutral designation of most old type specimens
NT
- neotype
HT
- holotype
AT
- allotype
PT
- paratype
ST
- syntype
LT
- lectotype
PLT
- paralectotype
CT
- cotype (this designation was used by various authors in different sense; e.g.
Kerremans used this designation usually in the sense of syntype while Théry
used it both
for
syntypes and for specimens compared with the type)
G - year of description (can be added by specialists in different groups of Buprestidae)
H - the citation of the description (can be also added whenever needed)
I - original genus (i.e. the genus the species was described in)
J - current genus (i.e. the genus in which the species is treated at present)
K - important data concerning the type specimen, e.g.: - described as
a variety/subspecies of
(var./ssp. of
); - who designated lectotype/paralectotype/neotype
(LT des. by
);
- if the specimen
is damaged or destroyed; - other important information.
Editor's note: the tabular listings of the types in the four collections
were submitted to me by Svata as Excel spreadsheets; I saved them as web pages
directly from Excel into the format you see;
the spacing is narrow but upon a quick review all the lines in the various columns
appear to line up properly.
