Acmaeodera holsteni White, 1939
   Sunset Valley was a favorite collecting site which soon thereafter resulted in:
White, B. E. 1939. A new species of Acmaeodera (Coleoptera, Buprestidae) with biological notes on others from Santa Barbara County, California. The Pan-Pacific Entomologist 15(2):69-75.
       
 
From elsewhere came: Acmaeodera barri Cazier, 1940:
Cazier, M. A. 1940. New species and new synonymy in California Acmaeodera (Coleoptera: Buprestidae). The Wasmann Collector 4(2):57-59. (no digital copy located)
    
       
 

then Barr added:
Polycesta cazieri Barr, 1949
Polycesta hageni Barr, 1949

   A new species of Polycesta (cazieri) collected by Van Dyke and Barr during that Sunset Valley trip (at least July 3-4, 1939) and published later:

   and eventually additional new species of Acmaeodera, several of which were from Sunset Valley:
